The dZi Foundation
My connection to Nepal began in 2014 as an expedition doctor for an international climbing team on Manaslu-the first of what would become 13 inspiring visits to this remarkable country. While the majestic landscapes captivated me, it was the extraordinary warmth and resilience of the Nepali people that truly resonated. Even during that initial trip, witnessing their daily challenges with limited access to clean water, education, and healthcare sparked a deep desire to support their well-being. This led me to become a dZi Foundation supporter, and I am now honored to serve as a dZi ambassador.
dZi (pronounced ‘zee’) partners with some of the most remote and under-resourced communities in eastern Nepal-areas often overlooked by traditional aid. What sets dZi apart is its commitment to long-term, community-led change. Rather than imposing solutions, dZi works alongside local people to identify priorities and build the skills and resources needed for lasting progress.

Over the years, what inspires me most about dZi is its belief in the potential of each community. By fostering local leadership and honoring indigenous knowledge, dZi ensures that the seeds of change continue to grow long after the partnership ends-creating stronger, healthier, and more unified villages for generations to come.
I invite you to learn more about the dZi Foundation and consider donating to support their impactful work. Your generosity can help bring lasting change to some of Nepal’s most deserving communities.

dZi Foundation has worked in Nepal for more than 20 years, partnering with communities across the Koshi River Basin — in the Solukhumbu, Khotang, and Bhojpur districts — to build critical infrastructure, reliable water systems, inclusive livelihoods, and climate resilience. Their programs have reached over 61,000 people, with a goal of serving 33,000 more across six municipalities.
